Travelling and Away Trips with the 1066 Chapter
As a Chapter we organise and run some very successful away trips – from a long weekend in the UK to as far away as the USA.
This is intended to provide fun and support, enabling members to do things with like-minded people, or something they would perhaps not do on their own.
However, the Chapter is not a Tour Operator, you are effectively away on a trip with friends.
So, there are some things you need to consider and be aware of, especially if issues arise, or your plans may need to change.
Cancellations, Refunds & Insurance
Wherever possible we will ask members to make their own bookings. This enables you to have control over cost and cancellation options available to you. This also covers you within the terms of any personal travel insurance that you may have.
On occasion the ride leader may have little option but to make a group booking on behalf of members. He/she would then ask members to deposit funds in the Chapter bank account and pay bookings as required. You will be advised in advance if this booking is cancellable (and up until which date it remains cancellable), of if it’s non-refundable.
In these situations, should circumstances change, either your own, or due to matters outside of our control, you may not be able to obtain a refund our claim for losses. Once at the point where bookings cannot be cancelled at a hotel you will be financially committed with no recourse to the Chapter. Additionally, as in this situation you have not made a personal booking, you will most likely not me covered by and insurance policy either.
Your ride leader or trip organiser will make you fully aware in writing of any dates beyond which cancellation for whatever reason becomes non-refundable.
Fortunately, these situations rarely arise, but it is important that we are clear to members how we are managing organised trips, the liability that you have, and the options available to you when things don’t go to plan.
Should you have any questions, please discuss with your ride leader, Head Road Captain or Chapter Director.
Sign up for one of our trips away, UK or abroad… there’s more if you login. Places on a Trip Away may be limited.
Chapter Away Trips
Please observe and comply with the following simple guidelines on Chapter away trips:
1) The group will ride together and comply with Chapter guidelines for safe riding.
2) For the benefit of the participants, trip organisers endeavour to arrange special rates for travel and accommodation, and an interesting itinerary. This takes a lot of time and effort and is a considerable burden of responsibility. We recognise that some participants may wish to make personal arrangements (e.g visiting friends in the area or a visit to a specific location), and this is not unreasonable. However, as a courtesy to the organisers, and others in the group, please participate as fully as possible in the programme arranged, and please keep the organisers fully informed of any other intentions before you go. If you plan to travel to the destination to do your own thing, please make your own independent travel and accommodation arrangements.
